MIAD Period Project
Installation & Social Media Campaign
Project Information
The objective for this project was to identify and research a problem related to the MIAD community and solve it through a social disruption, all while maintaining a social media presence to support the cause. My group of three identified the fact that there were not assessable period products for anyone in the school that houses a large population of people with periods.
While working with a Milwaukee Advertising Professional we curated a campaign that consisted of a physical installation of "bloodied" underwear hung over the bathrooms that are viewed right outside of the founders conference room where the people with real authority to create change meet. We also created infographics and a "petition" to explain our cause. We used social media as a tool to promote signatures, awareness, and support.
This projected definitely created a disruption and a lot of buzz throughout the MIAD community and beyond. Not only was this project successful in the sense that MIAD enacted real change and has since provided products it was also a learning lesson on how to properly deal with a situation when the feedback is not always positive.
